Creating In-Store Coupons

You can use a combination of Microsoft Word and Counterpoint to create your own coupons. In Counterpoint, you create the discount code (either line or document), and then you use MS Word to help you create a barcode using special barcode font.

Create a Barcode in Word

Make sure you have the exact spelling of the discount code you want to use or Word will not create the correct barcode.
  1. Open MS WORD
  2. Copy or type the DISCOUNT CODE in Word
  3. Highlight the DISCOUNT CODE
  4. In Word 2007 or higher on the Home tab click the FONT dropdown list
  5. Scroll until you see the BARCODE FONT, and then select it
  6. Your discount code is now a barcode and you can create your coupon in MS Word or some other application

Using the New Coupon in Counterpoint

Once you have created the discount code and your coupon with the new barcode, then it is ready to be use in Point of Sale.
  1. Start POINT OF SALE
  2. SCAN OR ENTER item(s)
  3. SCAN your coupon
  4. COMPLETE your transaction as normal

Security codes are the basis for what a user can or cannot do within Counterpoint. They define which menu code is assigned to users and whether they can perform point of sale functions like processing returns. By default, we program three security code levels for you: Administrator, Manager, and Point of Sale. The administrator level allows the most access to the application, and the point of sale level allows a user the least access to the application.
Menu codes define the functions available in the Counterpoint menu. For example, if a user does not have the Items function on their menu, they cannot add an item to the database.
Each Counterpoint user has associated User Preferences to determine how Counterpoint functions for that user.
