Microsoft has recently released Windows 11, their newest offering for PC Operating Systems. Often, people think that it is a good idea to upgrade to the latest and greatest software, but that is not recommended for stations running Counterpoint.NCR goes through a testing process to certify Counterpoint to work with Windows operating systems, and as of November 2021, NCR has not yet certified Windows 11.
Why Shouldn’t I Update Windows?
There are a few reasons not to upgrade:
- No guarantee that Counterpoint functions will open correctly (e.g., Reports or Custom functions)
- If Counterpoint errors occur and NCR support is required, they might deny assistance because Windows 11 is not yet certified
- Your PCI Compliance might be affected by using a non-certified operating system
