When an issue arises with a piece of Equipment, there are some simple steps that you can perform that may solve the issue.
- Trace the connection cables from the Device to the Workstation and make sure they are plugged in tightly and correctly.
- If the Device has its own Power Source, you want to trace that and make sure it’s plugged in and that the Outlet is providing Power. Maybe Plug a Lamp into it and see if it works.
- If all else fails Power Cycle the Device. Turn it off or unplug it for at least 30 seconds and then turn it back on. You may even want to Reboot the Workstation as well.
- Does the Device require an Internet Connection, like the Credit Card Reader or a Network Printer? If so, and it is not communicating, then your Internet may be down. In this case you would want to reach out to your IT Department or Internet Provider.
