Government restrictions and precautions continue to increase as the COVID-19 outbreak continues to spread worldwide. Grocery retailers are taking the pandemic just as seriously, ramping up their social responsibility.

Northgate Gonzalez Market saves the first hour of business for at-risk shoppers

On March 17, all of the company’s 41 locations started opening their doors from 7–8 a.m. only for those aged 65 and older and the disabled.

Speaking to The Shelby Report, Northgate Co-President Miguel González said, “This is just one solution we are looking at to help Southern California residents sustain their health and nourishment needs.”

Other grocery retailers, like Basha’s, are following suit.

United Supermarkets is looking to hire those impacted by the coronavirus

United Supermarkets, with over 95 stores across the U.S., posted on their social media accounts and website that they’re hiring. What’s unique is who they’re looking to hire.

They added, “Whether you join us for a short time or a lifetime, you are welcome at The United Family.”
