Comparing End of Day Reports: Z-Tape vs. Drawer History Report

The End of Day report is critical to understanding a day’s worth of business for most retailers. The two most common reports used to understand a day’s business are the Z-Tape Report and Drawer History Report.

The biggest difference between these two reports is the format in which they are presented. The Z-tape is typically run from the POS workstation, and is designed to print out on receipt paper. As a result, the information is spread out throughout the receipt.

The Drawer History report is designed to be printer out on 8.5 x 11 paper or even previewed from the Counterpoint workstation, as a result of this, the information is more condensed than the Z-Tape report.
